I have an Amish newspaper in my kitchen (from the Food Network this summer, it came in with William Yoder's strawberries one day) that has a section full of updates about each family/community. For example, here is an excerpt from Coalgate, OK:
"May 4--It's a lovely day and calm. A relief from the strong winds the past days. It was 39 degrees again this morning with frost on the house roof. Was also Mon. morning. It's rare to have this cool in May. We better enjoy, summer's around the corner. . . Friday p.m. the Allen Yoder family and James Troyer went to Chouteau. They went to visit Nelson Yoders, his parents, and since it was consignment sale weekend, I suppose the menfolk enjoyed that too. Sunday morning they went to Chetopa, Kans. for church and singing. They weren't sure if they would return home late tonight or maybe Mon. forenoon. . . The community had a frolic on the Clarita Fire Station Sat. to put an addition to it. The men enjoyed a delicious barbecued brisket for lunch."
It's a mix between a blog and a Christmas letter from Grandma. It's addicting.
