gap year

i just read this article on nytimes.com about the "phenomonon" of more and more students taking a year in between highschool and college or a year off. it was written about in this really annoying way which is why i don't really recommend anyone reads it. the interesting thing is that there were interviews from all these new organizations that organized gap year or years off for students. like parents could pay them and they would set up the whole year off, or have programs for students to enroll in. i just thought it was really interesting that this is an actual job, where wealthy parents will pay a lot of money for you to organize this time for their children. so maybe we could start something like this.

he's quaker.  im not sure how i feel about quakers.  he doesn't believe in majority rules.. his interview made me rethink some of my beliefs.  

amazing savings account

Faith in the city .  this is a savings account program that Ty told me about.  for every dollar you put in they put in 4 (you can put in up to $1,000) you can touch the money after 6 months.  the only catch is that you have to go to 8 hours of class on good money habits.

The demise of Scooterville

Scooterville (a weird warehouse-y building behind the U) has been under the wrecking ball all week. Everytime I pass it on the Campus Connecter it is a bit smaller. Today there was only maybe five floors left and three columns of windows. I can only imagine that soon it will be parking for the new stadium, which is slowly rising across the street. It is sad to see the end of that un-explored nook of Minneapolis.
